Plein Air Painting Masterclass with Michelle Hungerford

Sunday 7th July, 9am-12noon
In association with Tamworth Urban Landcare Group.

Plein air painting is about leaving the four walls of your studio behind and experiencing painting and drawing in the landscape. The practice goes back for centuries but was truly made into an art form by the French Impressionists. Their desire to paint light and its changing, ephemeral qualities, coupled with the creation of transportable paint tubes and the box easel—the precursor to the plein air easels of today—allowed artists the freedom to paint “en plein air,” which is the French expression for “in the open air.”

This masterclass in Plein Air Painting will be ledby Michelle Hungerford.  Michelle lives and works in Tamworth NSW, Australia, as a full-time working artist who is predominately a painter of the landscape. .

Michelle Hungerford has enjoyed many successful exhibitions in both commercial and public galleries across Australia and internationally.

This event plein air event is supported by the Tamworth Urban Landcare Group . (TULG) TULG was formed in 2008 by a group of environmentally concerned citizens over the degraded state of the Peel River through the centre of Tamworth. TULG now has 30 active members and has planted 6,000 native trees to improve habitat and reduce erosion in the Peel River.

TULG monthly working bees are held on the first Sunday of every month at 9am along the Peel River.
