Artist Talk: Tania Hartigan

Exploration of Line

Saturday, 30 May - 11am

Please join us in Gallery One for an artist talk with Tania Hartigan, who will discuss her latest work on display within the exhibition – Exploration of Line.

Tania Hartigan is a Gamilaraay artist based in Wallabadah, where she operates ‘The Artshack’ on her rural property. Raised in Woolbrook with strong family connections to Barraba, Quirindi and Gunnedah, her practice is deeply informed by kinship, cultural knowledge and connection to Country. From a young age, she has documented her family lineage, reflecting an enduring commitment to community and continuity. Working across painting, pastel portraiture, printmaking and weaving, Hartigan draws inspiration from the land’s textures and histories. Her work expresses a profound attentiveness to place, shaped by close observation and a respect for the enduring presence of her ancestors.

A light morning tea and refreshments will be served at the conclusion of the artist talk. Please RSVP for catering purposes.

Exploration of Line, features three fibre and textile artists, Sophie Honess, Sybil Orr and Tania Hartigan, who explore the concept of 'line' using a variety of materials, techniques and formats. The exhibition will be on display from 2 May - 28 June 2026.
