Artist Workshop with Jacky Cheng: Lucky Charm Tassels

part of 6TTT NAture Machine

Sunday 20th September 11- 1pm

Gallery 1

Join artist Jacky Cheng for a participatory public program inspired by Quiet Night Thoughts as part of the 6th Tamworth Textile Triennial.

Through the shared craft of paper weaving and tassel-making, participants are invited to create Lucky Charm Tassels while exploring themes of connection, cultural exchange, memory and storytelling. This hands-on workshop encourages both individual creativity and collaborative making, bringing together people of different ages, backgrounds and experiences.

Participants can learn simple weaving and tassel-making techniques while contributing to a growing collection of lucky charms. These may form part of a larger community artwork, reflecting the collective stories and contributions of visitors throughout the Triennial.

This intergenerational and intercultural program welcomes participants of all skill levels. Children are encouraged to attend with a parent or guardian, who can assist younger participants where needed. The workshop is designed to be accessible to a range of abilities, and Jacky can facilitate conversations and participation in Cantonese, Mandarin and Bahasa, helping create an inclusive and welcoming environment for diverse communities.

Come and share a story, learn a new skill, and contribute to a collaborative artwork that celebrates community, culture and connection.

Suitable for all ages
Free | No experience required
Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
