Demonstration of the Basics of Encaustic

Liz Priestley will conduct a demonstration on the basics of painting with Encaustic, a combination of beeswax and natural resin. A medium which has been in use since the Hellenised Egyptians of the 1st Century.

Liz will cover a number of different topics including:

• Which surfaces can be painted on with encaustic
• How to mix colours with wax
• How to fuse layers of wax
• Complementary mediums that can be used with encaustic
• Image transfer and collaging with encaustic
