Led by contemporary regional artist Maree Kelly - this workshop will consist of three sessions, focusing on essential elements for creating successful landscape paintings. Participants will learn about composition, colour theory, and perspective, providing a strong foundation for developing their painting skills.

This workshop is suitable for both beginners and more experienced artists looking to refresh their skills.   A great opportunity to enjoy to extend your creative skills in a supportive environment.

Artist Biography

Maree is a landscape painter from Gunnedah who works from her studio on the family farm, located near the village of Curlewis. She holds tertiary qualifications in environmental science and art, and draws on her knowledge and experience in both fields to create artworks that reflect her passion for the environment and her deep connection to and understanding of the landscape.

For over 25 years, Maree has painted and exhibited her work in many solo and group shows. She has received several local and regional art awards and has been a finalist in national art prizes such as the Paddington Art Prize, Muswellbrook Art Prize, Cromwell’s Art Prize, Norvill Art Prize and the Country Energy Landscape Prize.

Beyond her personal arts practice, Maree enjoys fostering creativity in others.  She has worked as an arts educator, teaching visual arts subjects at the New England Institute of TAFE and the Northern Inland Community College and facilitating workshops with various community organisations.  As a volunteer, she has dedicated her time and expertise to several community groups over the years and enjoys supporting local arts.
