Janice Jones Collection
Janice Jones gathered a four-hundred-piece collection of lace after being inspired by learning bobbin lace in the UK in 1982. One hundred and eighty pieces, some dating back to the 1580s, are on display at McCrossins’ Mill Museum in Uralla. This exhibition titled Spaces Make Lace celebrates centuries of lace making. The images and equipment on display explored how lace was made, who wore it, and who made it. This helped demonstrate the social, political and economic importance of the European lace industry across history. In 2022 Spaces makes Lace won a Museums & Galleries NSW IMAGine award in the category Small Museums - Exhibition Projects.
