A TAMWORTH REGIONAL GALLERY NATIONAL TEXTILE COLLECTION EXHIBITION

Small Wonders celebrates the intimacy, precision and expressive potential of small-scale textile art. Through intricate stitches, woven threads and delicate forms, these works invite us to draw close, revealing how modest gestures of making can hold expansive worlds of meaning, memory and imagination.

Across the exhibition, scale becomes wonderfully unstable. We move from the hand to the home, from the body to the cell, and from the microscopic to the cosmic. Things too small to see and things too vast to comprehend are brought back within reach through the material language of textile.

Perhaps this is the particular power of these small wonders. Held within the intimate space between hand and eye, they ask us to slow down, look closely and consider the limits of what we can see, touch and know. The smallest things can contain worlds, while the immeasurably large can begin with something as simple as a single thread.
