Felt Making Joanne Barr
Tuesday 30 September
Jo Barr is a felt maker and textile artist who loves working with wool and natural fibres. She creates handmade felt using traditional techniques, often blending colour and texture to make something completely unique. Jo enjoys sharing her skills with others and believes felting is a fun, creative way for kids to explore their imagination while learning with their hands.

Animation Skills - Little Worlds, Big Ideas with Daniel Elliott
Wednesday 1 October & Thursday 2 October
Calling all budding storytellers, illustrators, and comic enthusiasts!
Join Daniel Elliott, animator and illustrator from Visitors From Dreams, for a hands-on workshop in picture book writing and illustration these school holidays.
Whether you’re drawn to Dav Pilkey’s playful humor or the dramatic worlds of manga, this session will give you the tools to bring your own stories to life.
From superheroes to slice-of-life, we’ll explore how words and pictures work together to create unforgettable stories. Bring your ideas, your curiosity, and get ready to put pen to paper.
The outcomes of the workshops will be animated and projected into the Fitzroy Plaza. Folks will see their artworks come to life!

Week 2
Experimentation and Abstract Art with Emma Stilts
Tuesday 7 October
Inspired by Grace Crowley, and the works on loan from National Gallery of Australia, this workshop will explore abstraction.
Abstract art uses elements like color, line, shape, and form to express emotions, ideas, or concepts. Students will experiment with different mediums and respond to music to create their works. This will include palette knives, collage, and inks, as well as drawing and painting.
This workshop will include a tour of the gallery collection, looking at works by Dale Franks, Stuart Boggs and other abstract artist in our collection. This is a great workshop for students who enjoy experimentation and trying new techniques.

Model and Printmaking with Emma Stilts
Wednesday 8 October
Join us for a creative workshop delivered by Emma Stilts. Students will play with both relief and silk screen printmaking processes. Using printmaking materials students will enjoy experiments with line, shapes and patterns using foam prints and silk screens. Students can experiment with making multi-coloured and multi-layered prints.
Our class will take inspiration leading Australian modernist printmakers - Margaret Preston and Thea Proctor. As well as contemporary printmakers – such as Megan Cope and Tim Maguire. Each student will take their own unique prints from the workshop.
This workshop is perfect for students eager to explore art and printmaking in a creative and engaging way. An opportunity to use specialised equipment not always available at home.

Ceramic Art with Sasha Jury-Radford
Thursday 9 October
Join ceramicist Sasha Jury-Radford for this creative workshop exploring the use of clay in the development of whimsical ceramic sculptures. Exploring abstract shapes, colours and textures, participants will create their very own whimsical house, perfect for display in the home or garden. With access to studio art equipment not usually found at home, each participant will be able to take home their creation after firing.
