Artist Talk: James Rogers

Old Land, New Visions

Join James Rogers for an exhibition walkthrough and artist talk exploring his work in the group exhibition Old Land, New Visions. James’s works make a strong and compelling presence within the gallery, inviting viewers to engage with their layered surfaces and considered compositions.
 
Discover more about his creative process, which involves continual addition, subtraction, and adjustment until each work reaches its final resolution.

 

"These steel sculptures are from recent years and adhere to a personal procedure that has occupied my studio time for a couple of decades now. They are compositions of elements cut from steel pipe using a blow torch and welded together afterwards. The curved strips have an inside and outside tonal light that provides the impulse to start joining the pieces into the expanding three-dimensional explorations seen here."
