International Yarn Bombing Day at the Gallery

International Yarn Bombing Day at the Gallery

Wednesday, 11 June, 11am - 1pm

This unique form of street art, which began in the early 2000s, has gained popularity all over the world as talented yarn bombers continue to add a touch of whimsy and creativity to their surroundings, often surprising and delighting passersby. Transforming public structures or forms and embracing the world in warm fuzzy comfort, Yarn Bombing aims to promote social cohesion, town beautification, and aid in the boost of regional tourism. With 'Guerilla knitting', yarn storming, or yarn bombing, utilised to change the publics perspective of the urban environment, but also of this traditional textile practice.

Join us at the Gallery this International Yarn Bombing Day, Wednesday the 11th of June, and celebrate this quirky form of street art whilst taking part in a larger project to help in the beautification of Tamworth - the home of the National Textile Collection. Bring along your crotchet or knitting needles, during your lunch break, and let your creativity run wild.
