Ceramics with Sasha Jury-Radford

Join us for a creative ceramics workshop delivered by Sasha Jury-Radford. Sasha Jury-Radford is a practicing ceramic artist based in Tamworth, NSW. She is a qualified art teacher. 

Sasha has developed three different classes for each of the ceramic sessions. 

 

Session 1 - Infants / Early Primary (1 hour) 

Create Your Own Funky Monsters!

Students will dive into the joy of using play to craft their own fun and funky monsters. 

This hands-on session will teach them the pinch technique and how to attach clay to create interesting surface treatments. By the end of the workshop, students will have completed and resolved one or two unique small sculptures.

 

Session 2 - Primary (1.5 hour) 

Create Your Own Animal or Totem! 

This session is perfect for students eager to explore their creativity by crafting sculptures inspired by their favorite animals or personal totems. Through guided activities, students will learn essential techniques for joining clay and creating unique surface treatments. By the end of the workshop, each student will have completed and resolved one medium-sized sculpture.

 

Sessions 3 - High School / Upper Primary (2 hours) 

Expressing Emotion Through Clay

This workshop is aimed at students aged 12 and up. They will have the opportunity to explore expression and emotion through the art of clay. This workshop is designed to teach a variety of hand-building techniques, focusing on joining and surface treatments to create figures that express emotion through gestures and intricate details. Students will learn how to convey emotion through movement and detail in their clay sculptures.

• Ceramic works will be fired. Ready for collection 20 July.

Artist Bio

 

Sasha Jury-Radford is a practicing Ceramic artist based in Tamworth, NSW. She recently resigned from her Visual Arts teaching career with the NSW Department of Education to focus on her personal creative development and to share her passion for clay through Ceramic workshops. Sasha is enjoying a new direction in her life, with time to put to use her years of expertise in the Visual Arts.

Sasha works from her home studio. She regularly conducts workshops which are well received and enjoyed by many. Sasha is inspired by the organic form, irregularities in nature, and the simple things. She is drawn to surface treatment, pattern and small details. Her focus gives each piece their unique appearance, the beauty of the handmade. Sasha’s sculptural works reflect her innate sense of wanderlust and her natural surroundings.
