The Plant Sensibilia Machine is a large-scale hand-operated dyeing machine. Derived from contemporary and historic dyeing systems, it brings the dyeing process out of the studio and into the public realm. Lengths of fabric, pre-printed with metal salts (mordants), are ¬¬¬rotated through the dye-bath.

Using naturally derived ingredients, participants will create their own flexible biotextile samples and explore how regenerative and waste-based materials can be transformed into innovative textile alternatives.

Join artist Jacky Cheng for a welcoming, hands-on workshop inspired by Quiet Night Thoughts. Create your own woven lucky charm tassel, learn traditional craft techniques, and share stories through a collaborative making experience. Suitable for all ages and abilities, this intercultural program encourages creativity, connection, and community participation as part of the 6th Tamworth Textile Triennial. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Using wool fibres, warm soapy water and simple hand techniques, you'll create a seamless felted pouch with a lid while exploring the history and principles of this traditional textile art.
